Yesterday morning, I discovered I am pregnant again :) ! strange thing though... with my girls the test took a few minutes to "delevop", but this one was instant... I can't be more than 3 weeks along, I only took the test because my husband insisted, I didn't suspect in the least. He says the instant reaction of the test indicates an EXTREME amount of the hormone, which means twins. (There are twins onboth sides of the family). I get the whole thing confirmed by the doc tomorrow. What do you think about the odds of twins?

It really depends on the quality of the test. If you have a higher quality test.... you will get a faster result. BUT on the other hand, the higher you HCG (the hormone that causes a positive test) typically you will get a faster result. I am pregnant with twins and when I tested at 3 and a half weeks, I bearly had a positive visible. Hubby and I decided it was positive and took a test at the Dr office just to doubt check. It was positive and we had an ultrasound at 7 weeks. We only saw one baby.... even after looking around because my gut told me there were two. So I was very happy to only have one baby that looked healthy with a heart beat. Then when I went in at my 17 week ultrasound, there was a second baby. SHOCK!!!! We really weren't expecting that! I mean for the first ultrasound we were, but not this late.

On the flip side, I found out I was pregnant with my son at 3 weeks, 5 days and the results showed up VERY fast.

I guess my point is there is always a chance. I wish you luck and congrats!!!

I took the test 7 days before my period and for me they were clear as day positive in less than a minute or so. I am having a girl. Usually, the size of you uterus (usually if you are bigger than you are supposed to be for how far along you are) is the main indicator. While it does mean higher hcg, it does not necessarily mean you are having twins. A few things can determine on having twins and that is your age, and of course whether you have then in your family as well, and having more than one child. It is definitly possible, but hcg just usually indicates your pregnancy is progressing well or you just got a sensitive test. I have twins on both sides of my family (in fact I have a set of twin brothers and a set of twin neices in my family. Usually in our family it is the third child conceived and age is not usually an issue. You should find out when you go to the doc. Congrats on your pregnancy.

I had the same thing happen to me. They even saw 2 sacs when I had my first ultrasound. However, by the time they did the second u/s a week later they found out that one of the sacs was empty. So, now I just have a singleton. They are finding out that there are a lot more vanishing twins than they thought before, so don't get too excited just yet.
