So the body of mr. spider is about 2 inches with a yellow and black body, and white and black legs, so he's about 4 inches long all together. I am on the big island of hawaii, and this guy is huge and chillin right by me! He actually looks like he only has 4 legs b/c he has his legs together. Please help, or direct me to a website w/ photos. THANKS

I kind of wish you had given a little more detailed description, because lots of spiders have similar coloration. But I did find something close to what you are describing :
It is called a Kona Hawaii spider, or "banana spider". You can look at them at this address:

That's a very good description of an Argiope. They generally hang head down in the web, with the legs paired up like that. Argiopes are known for making webbing markers in the center of the web called "stabilimenta" that look rather like letters, so they're often called "writing spiders".

Spider, belongs to family ARACHNIDA hence, they should have 6 legs. Their sizes differ from few mm to 15 inches. Irrespective f its size they have venom, depending on their prey. Some like " black Widow" are very poisonous, it can kill a human. My real question is, it is a small spider, why you are so much exited about it ? Yours may be a psychological one, a phobia. In your case you are scared about a spider it is called as " arachnophobia" in psychologically. Do not get scared. Do not see at it. It will pass off.
