Its always less than the given or the exact size...
In fact same holds true for all the memory devices...
be it internal hard disk, pendrive, or RAM...
Its little less than the exact size....
I don't think there's a way by which u can increase from 504 to 512... but if u essentially need more RAM then either put extra ram else increase the virtual memory...

thats how much came with the comp. if you want to upgrade your ram and you fell comfortable doing it you need to go buy a stick of ram witch depending on the size will cost you any were from 50 bucks for 250 mb to 150 for 1 g then depending on if you have a desktop or a laptop youll need to :
desktop
1.open your comp 2. find the place to install your ram stick 3. line it uo in the place it goes make sure you got the right one and push it in oh make sure your comp is unpluged
if you have a laptop you unplug comp 2. unscrew back panel and put the ram in the slot turn on comp and enjoy
i suggest if your going to do it you might as well buy a 1 gig stick so you know you have plenty
iv got 1.5 g and my comp is pretty fast hope this helps

That's ok.
That's probably because your MotherBoard is using 8 megs of your ram to run your video.
If you REALLY just had to see it at 512, you could get a video card so your board wouldn't use the 8 megs, but if you're not having problems, it's better not to mess with it.
Good Luck!

Your integrated video card is probably borrowing some of it for graphics functions. So unless you don't like seeing what's going on on your computers screen or are really good from the command line your only option is to add another stick of ram if you have an open slot.

Go buy more memory at an electronics store (they will know what you mean) Be sure to know your computer model and operating system. (so you don't look totally computer illiterate) Open your computer and install the memory chips in the proper slot. (Instructions hopefully included) If it's only 8 megs I wouldn't worry about it but if you buy another 512 your computer should/will function more efficiently and faster. Good luck.
