Is this a joke? The Porsche of course. The MX5 has only around 120 horsepower and the Porsche has 200.

Porsche is a much higher quality car. Everything on the car is superior, the suspension, the brakes, etc. The car will handle immeasurably partly due to its ideal mid engine design and excellent weight distribution.

That said the Mazda is decent funny sporty little car for the money but it has very little power. New the Mazda costs about half of the Porsche - they aren't even close to being in the same class. You are comparing apples to oranges.

Kyle hit the key point right on... what is "better?" I love Porsches and am probably biased towards them. But the Miata is one of the great sportscars, and while it's not quite a Porsche, a day at the race track in a spec-Miata is an absolute blast!

The Porsche is the higher end car. It's faster, has more brakes, more grip, and more comfort too! The Miata offers all of the driver involvement, though less of the things that cost money... but it also costs less! So which is better, the car that offers more, or the car that offers 90% of that for 50% of the cost? Or whatever the cost, I am just guessing, but know that a 2.5L Boxster is still in a price range that isn't that far off what the '99 Miata would have cost when it was new (and the Miata will also have a lower cost of ownership, though the Porsche will retain more of it's value).

totally depends on what you like in a car.

if you want an inexpensive, very very realible daily driver/track car, the miata is pretty much the best roadster ever produced for the money. The miata is a hugely underrated sportscar.

the boxster will be significantly faster, but also more expensive to fix, own, and insure. it also does have the fact that its a porsche behind it (although its often semi-snubbed as the poor mans porsche, despite being a great car).

basically, theyre the 2 best roadsters produced in ages, but with different price brackets in mind. They both perform great, and are a total blast to drive, not to mention great cars to own. you cant go wrong with either.

It all boils down to this. Do you want a car or do you want a Porsche.

both are chick cars, which might be good for you, don't know.

The Mazda will be more reliable and cost much less to repair, but the Boxster is a nice driving car---beware of defective Boxster tops however...they like to jam.
