my baby is due on the 22nd of may however next week im 8 months pregnant which means i should only have 4 weeks left but i have 8 weeks now im confused cos i could of sworn pregnancy lasts 9 months not 10 months someone please help as im very confused even though this is my second baby it just seems strange im 32 weeks gone and have 8 weeks left which is 10 months

If you are unsure of the actual date of conception doctors will usually calculate a 40 week gestation period from the date of your last mentruation. If you are sure of the date (i.e. in cases of in vitro fertilization) they will calculate a 38 week gestation period which is still more than 9 months but close.

when you hit your 9th month there is still 4 more weeks to go. You pretty much are pregnant for 10 months. I think doctors just say 9 months to make it seem like less time. Plus anytime during your 9th month you can have the baby. 40 weeks is just when you are considered over due

A pregnancy usually lasts about 40 weeks. You have about four weeks to go when you hit your ninth month and the baby usually is born at the very end of your ninth month.

The "normal" gestational period of a fullterm pregnancy is 32 to 42 weeks.
