My company grows several plants for shade, some are ground cover and regular perennials, here are a few,
Angelica keiskii[evergreen], Ajuga[blue flowers], Asarum[wild ginger], Cast Iron plant, english ivy,needlepoint ivy. all Hostas, we grow 14 varieties,Lamiastrum, green&silver leaves w/yellow flowers,Lysimachia Gold Creeping Jenny, with yellow flowers[my favorite], Varigated Liriope,Big blue liriope,&yellow Liriope, Mondo grass green and black,Japanese spurge, Jacobs ladder, NIppon Lilly, Strawberry Geranium,Sedum ternatum,Vincamajor variegata. Bmboo needs hardley any sun. sun 1 time every few weeks is okay. Also those plants with big colorful leaves in any walmart or walgreens

all plants need some light
these do well in a small amount of light
Monkey Cups, (Nepenthes), Sundews, (Drosera), Marsh Pitchers, (Heliamphora), and the Australian Pitcher Plant, (Cephalotus), are all good choices as long as one pays attention to the needs of each plant. Also Hosta grow in very little light

Indian Pipe or Ghost Plant (Monotropa uniflora) is the most common in the US of about 3000 non-photosynthetic plants worldwide. It steals food from a fungus that steals its food from a green plant - weird! RScott

I'm no expert but surely all plants need sunlight to photosynthesise? Plastic plants can look fairly realistic :-0

Try a spathiphyllum (peace lilly) or maybe a bamboo or parlour palm( palms in the chameadora species)
