My friend has a Nokia N70 which is locked on the Three network - she has heard that phones on Three are unable to be unlocked? Is this true? Thanx

I have the same phone on the same network, so I can answer this question for you. I'll take it stage by stage. First of all, if it is under contract and there's still time to run on your contract, 3 won't unlock it for you. If it's out of contract, or it's on pay as you go and you've spent enough for 3 to allow you to unlock it, then proceed to the next stage. Contact 3 and tell them you want your n70 unlocked. You'll have to pay them a £15 one-off unlocking fee to do this. Then it will work fine on any network. However, you should not get it unlocked by any other method, such as your local phone unlocking store or market stall. This is because they can only do a partial unlock. This means that it will only work with the sim you unlock it to. As soon as you put a different sim in, the phone will lock back to 3. However, paying 3 to unlock it means it'll be done properly for you. I hope this helps.

In Nokia there is two kinds of Lock that is SIM lock which is known with "Pin Code" and the
Phone Lock this kind of lock allows only one SIM card to be used on this handset what seems to be is that you changed your SIM card and Blocked the Phone however the default phone lock code for Nokia is usually 12345 if doesn't work, you can do Format for the software and reuse the handset BUT you will lose any saved No., Music, Pictures etc...

Wish You all Luck
Hope it is the best Answer

The N70 can only be unlocked by the operator (in your case Three). They will probably charge you for the privalidge, orange charge £20. It is a softeare thing that happens on the netwrok so no need to take or send the phone anywhere. Just call the operator and ask for it to be unlocked.

Best of luck, Phill
