His touch is dreadful, he is too small and he cant score internationally. Ok he scores for Man u but so did Andy Cole and so could I ! They just create so many chances so its easy for him. I admit sometimes he scores the spectacular but once again i refer to my own ability to score a special goal, you just have to go for it once in a while. I was hoping he would be a world class striker for England for years to come but i now think his best years are behind him and that he will be the new Francis Jeffers (remember how he was hyped up?)

I think that the media have tried to make him a Beckhamesque figure, but he has neither the looks, the temperament nor the talent, just the publicity seeking partner.

I think comparing him to Jeffers is a little bit harsh, but I do agree that he has not developed in the way that he could have. to be honest, I think you are being a little bit unfair on Andy Cole too. He was a classic poacher who scored a barrowload of goals for Man Utd and Newcastle, Rooney is not really in the same mould.

When I watch him I think, Gasgoigne, without the flaws or sparks that made Gazza, self destructive, funny, or exciting!

Yea, Gazza with no soul!

i don't think he is over rated , i think he is overused . look at Lampard for instance , he"s tall but cant do it for England . When Rooney plays for UTD he runs his socks off for ninety Min's , so his dedication cant be disputed. Plus he"s still a kid really , he"s just got to learn to play his own position instead of playing all over the field because other players are under performing , and calm down a little which i have no doubt he will . He is brilliant but the best is still to come , scary eh ?

He is just as good as what I know him to be. So he is not overrated to me. But with others, they might think that he is better than he actually is. It all depends on what people have heard about the guy. I live in the US, and so I don't hear much of him other than what I hear here and on other websites, so he is a great player in my eyes. But with those who are constantly hearing about him, they might think otherwise because they have something to compare him to (what the media says). He is probably overrated in some sense, but you cannot doubt that he is still a fantastic player.

agree, i think he should be given a free role just behind a target man. we dont have the target man, crouch is not good enough. lennon should be switchjed from left to right, gerrard in the middle with hargreaves, lampard on the bench.either way rooney will never score enough goals at intrnational level we just need a coach with enough bottle to tell him that.

Rooney and colleen
Beckhams
all of these footballers and wags are very over rated.
They in the game for the money and not the love of football game.
All their wags want is the lifestyle.
Overpaid definately
If they were paid less hen it would cost the public less to go see the games which is our national sport.
Why do they need all that money anyway. Lower the wages and concentrate on the game.
And yes Rooney is one ugly son of

I think he's not overrated a such. The poor lad has been hyped up so much and everyone expects him to perform to such a high standard. I think he was thrown in at the deep end with England, everyone has hung their hopes on him. I believe he needs to take a step back from international level, concentrate on what he does best, 'Play Football'.

At Man Utd Rooney gets great service from a very good team.
With England he gets NO service from a poor team.
Rooney does not have to prove anything to anybody.
And I`m not a Man Utd fan.
