I'm interested in building a Digi-log-clock. I'm going to use a PIC1673A processor. This PIC has to be programmed. How do I program this PIC. Can I build my own PIC programmer? Does anyone have any articles on building a programmer. Will an AVR programmer do the job?

I would recommed against building your program device. First, they are so cheap, it's not worth you time to fool with it. Second, you could make an error in construction that would be difficult to find. The AVR programmer won't work for the PIC. Look at jameco.com,digikey.com,and mpja.com, all sell PIC programmers.

there are many types of pic programmer. the one with lowest cost is to build it yourself. There are many websites that provide the circuit to program a PIC. try search it & do some homework, then you'll find one. unless you don't have time for that, then you can purchase it at USD$50-$60 each. the cheapest that i found is about USD$26 but it's more like the one that you can build it yourself. try www.programmer-pic.com, you'll find the price comparison from the webpage.
