You can follow their existnce all the way back to the egyptian brick layers that built the pyramids. They don't need to take over the world. The world is already under control. New members are chosen through the many umbrella groups that make up the illuminati. If you show enough promise, they will find you.

Well, the Illuminati elite are comprised of several secret societies such as the Freemasons, Skull & Bones, Bohemian Club, etc. I believe it started around 1776. George Washington was a Mason fiercely loyal to the Illuminati order, as were many of the founding fathers of the United States. It is true that world domination is on their agenda. They are motivated by power, wealth, pride, elitism, and pretty much everything evil you can think of. They are into the occult - they enjoy giving secret messages and displaying "gang-like" symbols to one another. They worship the pyramid because it represents the Illuminati structure. If you look on the back of a one dollar bill, you will see a pyramid with an all-seeing eye at the top of it. The all seeing eye represents the Illuminati elite - the "Inner Circle", and various Illuminist high profile politicians, influential religious leaders, many celebrities, banking officials, and the dynasty families such as the Kennedys, The Rothschilds, the Rockefellers, etc. The rest of the pyramid represents the general populace (or as they would like to have it "the dumbed-down masses"). They really are evil, and give themselves a "God-like" status. They think they are the "Illuminated ones". They select their new cohorts in these secret societies at prominent universities. For example, both GW Bush and his father were recruited into the Order of Skull & Bones at Yale University.

The last manifestation I saw was on the movie Tomb Raider. I guess they memorize a very long history and can recite it is my guess.

the illuminati is not one set of epople or one organisation, it refers to those who are suppossedly illuminated, possessing more and higher knowledge than others
