so at what particular shade of black/brown do you stop considering yourself black. there is difference between nationality and ethinicity I understand that, i just find it weird that i guess once you hit a particular shade of brown/olive your no longer considered black and i guess the reverse goes for whites. how dark/light if you live in europe do you have to be distinctly say your in one category as oppose to the other.

umm yeaa sammer but there are parts of asia and europe continents that are separated by bodies of water via earthquakes but that does not mean they are no longer are part of the continent. yes the north subharan desert is separate but it is still considered part of the african continent

This whole "white black" thing is starting to fade. Egyptians are darker than white (anglo saxon) people. Are middle eastern people "black"? Are Mexican people "black"?

Here's the thing:
Egyptians are dark-skinned people. They have to be, look at the climate they live in.
Hollywood has always portrayed ancient Egyptians as being white. Unfortunately, that put it into most people's heads that Egyptians are white.

Duh.
This is the same Hollywood that decided to have David Caradine play a chinese guy on the series Kung-Fu because America wasn't ready to see minorities in starring, powerful rolls. Since we know the ancient Egyptians seriously had their crap together, Hollywood had to assume they were white. Kinda racist & misleading. They were native Africans. Dark skin, just like the paintings they left on the walls say. Early Egyptians were full-on black. No question about it. Egyptians today seem to have caucation-like (caucazoidal?) features but with an awesome kick-**** tan. My guess is it's some sort of middle eastern/ african mix with just a dash of euro influence. Where do we draw the line between what is considered black and what's white. Are we really talking color or is it something else that determines our color (hair, facial features, etc)?

;)

Yes, having lived on the border of Egypt I would have to say they are 100% correct. Egyptians are not black. Not at all. He is 100% correct. They are as black as Syrians, which is not at all.

(Actually this is not really true. All non-Israeli middle easternes have about 10% sub-saharan african genes according to a study, but that's really watered down.)

They are African, but not black. He's right.

You didn't miss an earthquake, you missed the formation of the Sahara desert, which seperates white Arab north africa from black sub-Saharan Africa.

Egypt is in Africa. Africans are Black. Black ranges from very light with straight or wavy hair, to very dark with kinky hair, and everything in between. Even if Egyptians were Brown, Red, or Yellow where do you think those colors come from? They aren't white/ Caucasian, nevertheless. * Check out Egyptian President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak for a modern Egyptian model. A Blackman.
PS. Ignore the ignoramus outofafrica9... he's angry because a Blackman kicked his a** when he tried to grab his BIG BLACK BALLS. Get over it creep.

Egypt has peoples from a variety of racial backgrounds

but considering that was a prime location for African blacks to meet Arabs - then you can see there would be a good degree of mixing between these two backgrounds

Just because your African doesn't mean your black, but majority of the people that live in egypt are probaly middle eastern skin color, so that is where this guy says "egyptians are not black"

They are not necesarily black... But they are African. I never really thought about it before this... It is kind of like a Canadian is a Canadian and an American as they are part of North America. Egypt is not part of the Country ( or is it countries?) Africa. It is its own country... it is like Mexico and USA and Canada, we are all technically americans ;)

Egyptians are African. OutofAfrica9, you can't make something out of nothing. Some of those countries have nothing, and everyone else sits back and let's it happen. It only embarrasses world leaders.

Egypt is indeed in Africa, but the people are Muslims, therefore the majority of them are brown skinned.

My mom has travelled to Egypt and she said they are not black. She said they looked middle eastern and I have a whole bunch of photos to back up her claim. Middle Eastern people are generally mixed racially with pre dominantly caucasoid racial genes.
