I sent my husband to the store for baby shampoo, he came home with dish soap, band aids q-tips and carpet pre spotter.
Is it true, do men really buy the wrong thing so we dont send them to the store any more???? (funny in a sweet way)

Let me answer this on behalf of the guys (I see a lot of women calling your husband an idiot and that's just not fair).

We really want to do the right thing and help out, but we really don't think like women. I don't think for a second that your husband messed up so that you wouldn't send him on errands. That's a ridiculous funny little fiction that must have been made up by women who don't understand men... we men actually derive a feeling of self worth and good feeling just by performing tasks for women (or at least to the extent that our ladies praise us). It actually hurts (very much) when we screw up and our ladies point out our failings.

The problem is that we don't think like women, which leads to the fact that we don't communicate like women. I myself have been exactly in the situation your husband was in because I completely misunderstood what I was supposed to do. It actually is not a good feeling, and he didn't do it to be mean or play a trick on you.

At least it sounds like you handled it with a good sense of humor and didn't act put out or that you couldn't count on him for anything or that he's an idiot etc. Actually a lot of women take just that sort of negative approach.

If I were in your husband's shoes and my lady heaved a put-upon sigh and acted really hurt that I'd come home with the wrong thing, I'd be really hurt myself that my effort was met with such contempt, and I'd probably say 'forget it' and be less inclined to want to help someone I felt like I couldn't please (everyone makes mistakes after all)

On the other hand if I came home and my lady had a good sense of humor, appreciated my effort and we were both able to laugh about it, I'd race right back out the door, eager to get the right thing.

No I don't think he did it on purpose, Didn't you ever go to the store and as you were passing the aisle's you saw somethings and bought them, then at the end you forgot to buy what you really went for?

That is why I make a list before I go shopping now.

I know my son does what your husband did many times.

LOL, I know. My hubby just doesn't get the secrets of doing errands, either - send him to the grocery store to get taco-seasoning, and he'll be lost!:-)

I mostly get my stuff I need for cooking by myself, and he gets to buy the beverages, things, he can't go wrong with...;-)

It's especially fun to send him to Lidl or Aldi and he'll come back with some "Weekly Special Offer" big boy toy like a micro-mouse for the pc that gets me carpal-tunneled only looking at it...;-)

Hi,
Actually I am the one that gets side tracked when shopping-alot of men have to focus on the one item-get in and get out-
My husband usually tells me he can't find something that I just saw at the same store earlier! Then I go back and it is still there in the same place I told him that it would be! So any of the techniques "your husband getting all the wrong stuff" or mine-"not getting at all" are definately their way of getting out of "store runs"! Frustrating..aaahhhh!

Well, your question made me smile! It's interesting, isn't it, how they can make a trip to the store an adventure in picking up the most unusual items....

Yes they are funny, I send my husband to the store and he will call me every few minutes to ask me what it was he is suppose to be getting.

We are not as focused as women. That is for little things. We care more about bigger decisions and things that benefit us more in life. Without Women we will be nowhere.
