true, every age was modern at 1 time, but what time r the royal family living in?
do we want to give them all that money to keep their palaces and golden eggs?

I think it's a matter of tradition. It was round about in 1895 that the autocracy's power started to fade in England, which has existed for centuries. The princes are of so of Wales, and the queen the only head of the royal house of England now. If I by some 239530948239048102498 to 1 chance found some undiscovered island, I'd found a royal family there. Not because I'm into having slaves and subjects, but because they attract tourists and intrigue as to what makes us royal in the first place. The queen of England does not have any political power, she is a figurehead anyway.

In my opinion, no. But they are part of what it is to be "British". People come to the UK to see Buckingham Palace and the Queen etc.
I think still having a Royal Family has us British holding onto our history. But basically, I feel we don't actually need them.

Yes, Britain would be just another run-of-the-mill country without them. And it would cost just as much, if not more, to keep a politician in place as head of the government, without bringing in the tourist dollars. How many tourists are coming to see Tony Blair?

Well to the british yes they need her.All they have ever had is a queen or a king sometimes they have been loyal queens and kings sometimes they hav been backstabing pigs but they are afraid to change to a republican government they are afraid to be put back in the stone age and have the British Empire collaps and from my point of view who could blame them?

I suppose you dont really need the Royal family. They do very little in the politics, they dont run the country any more. They are just there to wave and have their pictures taken.

I think it is great that britian keeps that tie to its past.More countries should care that much about their history.I would very much like to visit there one day.No you dont need them but i think you should keep them ,and be proud of their history.
