Fremantle would have to be the best chance this year, certainly with the minor premiership. They may struggle in the finals though. If Adelaide do not have to play West Coast in the finals, they will be a strong chance of winning the premiership.

It's really wide open this year. A couple of weeks ago I would have said the Eagles, but the whole Cousins thing makes that a gutsy pick - I'm not sure they can win without him, as their second-tier midfielders will get a lot more attention now. Sydney seem to hang around year after year, and bringing Everitt to the club gives them the ruckman they were missing in the Grand Final last year, but they've had a charmed run with injuries the last couple of years. Fremantle could easily win it all, they could also easily implode and finish 12th as well. Adelaide are usually in the mix, they can't get by the Eagles, and their knee injuries are to important players so I'm not sure they can get there. St Kilda can't seem to get their best team on the field, and can't run with the Perth teams, so on a dry track in September you'd think they'd struggle. The Bulldogs can run all day, but still don't have any talls of note down back - that will hurt them again this year. Hawthorn are potential bolters this year - but you usually need to do an apprenticeship in the finals before you win.
Right now, I'd go with Sydney playing one of the Perth teams in the GF, and winning.

My fav to win the comp is Freo -my team. I have been with them through good and bad and trust me there has been a lot of bad times!! The last couple years we have been proving ourselves and after last years finals experience I would say we are in with a winning chance for the flag this year.
I am hoping for a West Australian GF with my boys coming out on top this year.
Failing that I think the Swans, Adelaide, Bulldogs and Saints will be in good form come september

Good question
Eagles will probably get off to a bad start with all their off feild drama. But west coast are certain to bounce back after 2 or 3 rounds.
Fremantle will definitely improve and I think next year would be the one for them.
Western Bulldogs, Kangaroos, Hawks, Brisbane and Carlton will be up there.
Sydney and Melbourne will be in the top 6.
But I am routing for West coast Eagles- if they get back to back (hopefully) It will show what a great side they are, especially with the drug problems going on with a few players.

Despite all the off-field controversy, I think the West Coast Eagles are the team to beat. Let's not forget last year, the Eagles started the season off under controversy as well, again through Ben Cousins. However, Cousins wasn't suspended last time. Still, West Coast has enough depth, and while no-one will truly replace Cousins, they still have enough cattle to go back-to-back.
Top 8 (at the end of the home and away season):
West Coast
Fremantle
Sydney
Western Bulldogs
Collingwood
Adelaide
Melbourne
St. Kilda.
Grand Final: West Coast vs. Western Bulldogs.

As a Brisbane girl and a huge Lions fan, I would like them to win the premiership this year, but I seriously doubt they will although after their NAB Cup performance I think they could make the final 8.
A few weeks ago I would have said West Coast, but with all the drama surronding them due to the Ben Cousins drug saga things might be a little difficult for them this year.
I would have to go with Adelaide to win it this year, with Fremantle and Western Bulldogs also a strong chance.

I hope the magpies have a good year they promise so much but they never seem to win the matches that are winnable to them, they have been in the finals on many occasions but have only managed 14 grandfinal wins, certain teams seems to lift against the magpies no matter what position they are on the ladder. GO MAGPIES.

I'm a West Coast fan but i dont think they can get past all the drug drama for a second year in a row...especially now that Freo has the confidence after winning both derbys last year
