Go to the manufacturers (of the motherboard) website and check their support or download area. Most mfgs supply drivers or links to drivers but you usually have to do a bit of investigation to find what you need. Start with your device manager to see what is recognizes your audio as.

Before you beat your head against the wall check to see if the drivers have loaded. Go to Start>Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices. Click on "Advanced" under Sound playback. Click on the type of speakers that you have, click OK.
Click on "advanced" again then click on the Performance Tab and at the bottom of the page click on Restore Defaults. Click OK. Close out of the Properties box.

If that doesn't help then, Click on System>Hardware>Device Manager>Sound, video and game controllers. If you see a yellow exclamation mark beside anything then there is a problem with that device. Click on it and try to reinstall the drivers. Make sure that you are connected to the internet.

You should not have to do anything with the motherboard, it just sounds like like your dll files are loading for some reason. The easiest fix is to reinstall drivers.

One other thing that you can check is in the bottom righthand side of you screen there should be several icons there. look for one that looks like a speaker. Click on it. Make sure that none of the little Mute boxes are checked.

Good Luck
