Amy Adams was amazing in Junebug. It was an indy film, and she got nominated for a Best Supporting Actress for it. No one really paid much attention to her though. She was just in Talladega Nights last summer and she was only in a couple of scenes.

Channing Tatum, may not be underrated, but he is definately under rated as a serious actor. He made teen fluff like She's the Man and Step up, and those were both dopey and whimsical (except I liked She's The Man). His performance in Step Up was just terrible and he stood there like a rock and mumbled his lines. However I saw him in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and it was an incredible film and his performace blew me away. People compared him to a young Marlon Brando. It was an excellent performance and people should pay more attention to him as a serious actor.

Several comedians come to mind - Adam Sandler, Jim Carey, Bill Murray. They become know for a certain style, and not really taken seriously when they try to branch out into drama. Yet they do incredible work, and may receive some recognition (Bill Murray was nominated for an Oscar), but for the most part the industry ignores their efforts.

Don Cheadle. This guy has range and sincerity in his characters, yet by large, the movie watching public tends to ignore him. He gets his dues for the most part from critics, but thats it. The guys under-rated and should receive far more attention and praise. Maybe his current film that is out will help get him that.
