1- combination. depends on how we feel- if it's a weekday just short chit-chat. She's not interested in poitics and I'm not interested in her crap so we can't really have meaningful in depth intellectual conversations.

2- just basic instructions to employees and colleagues- clear and concise

3. Letter writing- never hand-written. I never have actually. Yeah, don't write letters sorry- oh yes I do- but only complaints.

4. With the Mrs of the moment- I try and keep it short- no use paying for hot air. At work- frequent- but always short and straight to the point with only a few pleasantries thrown in when needed.

5. Texting- infrequent- I use long form- none of this teenage drivel- no-one understands it and you waste most of the time sending each other texts trying to decrypt each other.

6. Emails- all the time- for work- very frequently- office memos, instructions, information and task requests, forms, you name it. Basically very dry, concise wrok-related material- no jokes, banter or offensive tuff- that's rubbish that creates more unnnecessary problems.

7. Never use messenger- I find it a waste of time and I can claim for my phone billings- so it's redundant.

8- I would actually agree that we are more insuler and far more self-oriented (as opposed to selfish) and less community or social peer oriented- but I don't blame not communication technology.
I think teh main issue is greater dfemands on our time due to work re;ated factors as well as issues of job security.
Employers are now less felxible and more demanding of staff, typically (self excluded) and set unreasonable unpaid demands on worker's out of hours time.
Higher taxes and costs of living require that we have to work harder in order to adequately sustain our ever increasingly expensive lives and or lifestyles.

Mobile phones or not- if people want to jibber-jabber- they'll find a way of doing it underwater with a mouth full of marbles.

9. Circle of influence- well I'm just the owner and employer of a small business so I'm no Bill Gates. So not terrribly large.

I still write letters to people who live to far away to visit. I email them with bits of news and gossip and put the deep meaningful stuff in letters.
I use text for brief conversations - what time Ill be home, what shopping we need etc.
And i talk a lot, to anyone wholl listen. About anything and everything.
Talking to people about very serious stuff is also my job.

That is more a catalogue than a question!
The simple truth is that some people communicate well and others do not....and that has always been the case.

your q is too long for me. But I think mens communication is very different to women's and you do not ask the gender of the person who can be bothered to answer.
