Specifically. I have a large brick planter in the front yard that is approximately 8'X25'. The area is planted with schrubbary that is literally being overrun with vines. Roundup does not help. I think the vines actually like it because it doesn't slow them up a bit. I have been told I may have to take the planter out but that seems pretty drastic and I was wondering if there is a better way. Thanks

You can keep digging out the invaders and pulling them out by hand. You can eventually get rid of them that way, but it'll take forever.

You mentioned Round Up. I've used it to eradicate some really horrible things like ivy and blackberries. I bought the undiluted Round Up and put some in a small glass jar, got a paint brush and painted it on individual leaves of the plants I was trying to get rid of. That really did the job on plants I'd sprayed without success. That will take care of the majority of it, but you'll have to keep doing "touch ups" with the Round Up and paint brush for a few more years. The roots of those plants spread by runners and it takes a while to get them all.

The best way to get rid of your problem is first cut it out, then paint the stems with paint to smoother it. Then drill a hole in
center of the vine (the part that is still in the ground). The pour a weed killer in the hole, We have tried it and it works.
