No. Would you want an occupying force in your country? I, for one would be very angry if let's say China thought our leader was a jerk and made up lies to invade our country and then destablized my country for "our" own good. I don't know, maybe that is just me though.
Do they need us there now? Probably. It's going to get very scary once we pull out. I'm afraid that the new leader of Iraq will probably be much scarier than Sadaam...much scarier.

A B.B.C. sponsored poll of 5000 Iraqi's resulted in an high 80% that said they were glad for the Government and their lives are much better than under Saddam and that they felt the Iraqi military will soon be able to control the terrorism in their country. The would like the Americans to return home but not until they are able to do the job themselves. All the Province's but for a couple are under local freely elected governments and are free of terrorism It's the capital of Baghdad that terrorist attack because of the news media being headquartered there as well as being the seat of the national government. Many of their answers above are blatantly false and made up just out of hatred of Bush. Immature. For the answer below mine. The U.N. stats state that Saddam killed more than 600,000. Since the war began 53,000 have died. The majority from terrorist attacks.

Its just like asking a question like "is capital punishment required in USA?" to such questions there would be opposing sides always in a society. Families benefitted from US occupation would want US there. But then remember, in addition to persons supporting Baathist regime a new group of people opposing US in principles & wishing self-respect for Iraq would be opposing this view.
The right thing US could have done was bring Saadam to trial in front of a reputed judicial authority as International Court of Justice, dismantle WMD (if any) and let the relatively clean Iraqi Officials continue in their official positions until suitable replacements were found.
But then history cannot be rewritten, with wiping out of all previous official machinery, creating of partisan authorities have created suspicion, violence & chaos in Iraq. Its US responsiility to stay put and make good of the damages. Else the world has to be prepared for a simmering cradle of violence, that would affect all corners of the world.

I'd suggest that you talk to actual Soldiers who have been there. This would be a Forum to show thier own bias. No matter which view you get. It would only be an opinion. And you are looking for the actual truth. Talk to someone that has been there. You may be surprised that it's different than what the Media is saying.

They hated us before we went there and they will hate us even more when we leave and yes some of them might of been tortured under Saddam but I bet he didn't kill as many as the war has and their children could go out on the streets without fear of getting blown up.

Negative, Ghostrider. A few thousand people being tortured is horrible, but it pales in comaprison to millions being displaced, no jobs, no electricity, no potable water and, oh yeah, bullets flying everywhere.
This is one big s&*t storm and there are no more umbrellas.
