I'm guessing because unlike my experience growing up in the Mid-West, here in California pastry boxes usually are pink (I've lived here about 12 years). since many things seen on TV are filmed in CA, they reflect what we typically see here.

This is anecdotal but does give some credence to my claim. Below is a link to a blog page. This person made miniature doughnuts out of polymer clay and the box made for the doughnuts is the classic pink pastry box.

I also found a link to a stock photo image of a box of doughnuts, also with the typical pink box.

Finally one of Bob's giant doughnuts from Bob's Doughnut & Pastry shop in San Francisco. I know these are all doughnut pictures, but it seems other pastries are less likely to be photograhed in their box. lol Poor ol' doughnuts are left in the box the came in.

I have never bought anything from a bakery without getting it in a pink box.
