Homosexual relationships are not carbon copies of heterosexual ones. This is because homosexuals have additional challenges compared with their heterosexual counterparts.
For starters, homosexuals have to put up with discrimination and hatred from mainstream society.
Scientifically, homosexuals are much more likely to experience problems relating to being "too alike". All relationships require there to be a certain level of differences (known as antihomiphily) to survive. Heterosexuals automatically have this due to the gender difference, and don't even think about it. Homosexuals usually get round this by falling for people who are physcially, racially or age different to themselves.
Otherwise, homosexuals are more likely to have flexible (open) relationships than heterosexuals. This is because men (irrespective of their sexuality) can enjoy sexual activity outside a relationship. Most women prefer sexual activity within a relationship, which means heterosexual male sexual activity is bound by the requirements of the female. In a male homosexual relationship, the woman is removed and hence there are less boundaries.
In addition to all this, homosexuals have similar issues to heterosexuals.
Another thing is that despite underlying differences, homosexuals and heterosexuals are similar in that they primarily base their choice of sexual partner by gender. This differs from bisexuals, who usually look for things other than gender.

Gay people have the same type of relationships are straight people. All couple fight, and usually about the same things (money, family).
Gay people prefer to have sex with the same gender because it is what we are sexually attracted to. I'm a lesbian, and I think women are sexually attractive. Men, on the other hand, I have no will what-so-ever to even see naked =P

Nobody knows why homosexuality really exists. It just does. Other than that our lives/relationships are very much the same as heterosexuals.

1) It's not about preferring one or the other and there is no logical explination as to why aside from the fact that it's the same as any man liking blondes or big women or a woman preferring latin or bald men, you can't just wake up one morning and decide who you're attracted to - you just are.
2) Of course they do, because the relationships are just the same as anyone elses... just aren't the same gender of people, the feelings are the same.

They fight about the same thing.
Gay couples often fight about issues on infidelity. That's because guys are naturally more sexually promiscuous, put two gay couples together, and there are many ways you can permutate sexually.
Lesbian relationships are more about companionship and less about sex. They hold hands.
