How do you feel about population control? Are there some instances where it is necessary?

Definitely think it is a cruel necessity in some cases. It has to be implemented intelligently and sensitively though, to avoid cases like the Chinese female baby murders.

I think in some instances it can be necessary to control population but it all depends on how it is done. For instance, a natural disaster like the one in Thailand a couple of years ago was awful but it is a natural phenomenon that is a way of ethnic cleansing. A person, or an army, going into a country and killing lots of people is not the way to control populations in various countries. However, in China there is (or was) a law saying that people could only have 1 child due to their vast over population, which I think is a good thing because otherwise there could be over crowding, people living in squalor, and several people living in cramped conditions.

I think it's a lot like playing God. Or saying only certain people get food, and the rest have to die. I read about that woman who got artificial insemination, and it turns out the child was born under another ethnicity. Now she and her husband want to sue the "baby farm." When you mess with the natural order...better beware, 'cause you just never know what'll happen. With that said, population control is robbing another of the freedoms I believe are our inalienable right: The Right To Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit Of Happiness.
Maybe if more people embraced these principles and walked their talk, the world would love life and it's people?

Hard to say. It would seem like it is totally necessary, and that some people are horribly careless, having like 14 kids nowadays. But then again, who are we to say what other people do that is not directly injuring other people? There are bigger problems in the world. Although, I would ad that it would be nice to see lifetime welfare mothers who continue to have children get sterilized, same for any guys running around fathering children they cannot afford, or cannot care for.

Most definately. Children are being born into families who have no means whatsoever to support them. Third world countries are undergoing a huge population explosion, while countries in the first world have a negative birth rate.

Who could be trusted to enforce the controls? The gov't? The religious leaders? Who would watch them? What about the people who already have large families?What size family would be fair for everyone? The question is as difficult a subject as euthanasia, or legal suicide.
