I love the name because its what my eldest daughter is called but her name isn't hyphenated it's Ellie Mai (also spelt slightly different). She's seven soon and everyone says it's a very pretty name. If you like it go for it !!!!

It makes me think of the old show "The Beverly Hillbillies". There was a character on the show named Ellie May.

I have a feeling reference will be made to beverly hillbillies.
Depending on what the girls personality will be like as to wether being teased by a name will affect her and how.

I do find the name very pretty, but I do not believe in our society it will go without someone making fun of it.

Especially in middle school.

Personally, I like the Beverly Hillbillies. I grew up watching the old reruns with my grandma. So if you like the name I say go for it. I like Ellie May. Good luck!!

maybe it would be better if it wasn't hyphenated. so Ellie was the first name and May the middle name, then it is a bit more neutral. I love May as a middle name, my baby is Millie May. good luck to you :)

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin' at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Ew, just ew... Don't do that to that poor child

Its nice, but it reminds me of the stereo-typed country girl with the plaid shirt and cut off shorts and straw in her mouth. The kind of girl who calls her parents ma and pa.
