i'm half way decent at art. have always been since i was very short...drawing, paintin, etc. i've found that i can pick up any medium and pretty much make it work. recently, i've realized that i can make music work, and writing, and poetry. what i want to know is if anyone else out there feels the same. if you got control of that imaginative part of yer mellon, does it transcend all art?

In a long life I've found many people who excel in one creative field do extremely well in others. Basically they are all underpinned by similar senses of observation, memory, and response to form, line, tone, composition, etc. Even prose has rhythm and "colour", and painting fairly obviously often invokes colour, mood, and even image by association. There is a phenomena by which some people see numbers as colours, hear colour etc as "sound". Perhaps we all have it to some extent, but creative people are most likely to make the lateral thinking transfers. There is a lot of commonality in maths, music, etc, too - many fine mathematicians are excellent musicians. And business, too, requires creativity. What fun.

not all people are like that but i had noticed that with my friends and i , we can all draw , paint , and make clay models etc. , working with our hands pretty much , when it comes to writing and playing music though its a different story , although it does originate from the same part of the brain i believe. what i think makes all of that possible is practice with one medium makes better and more accustomed and then when it comes to another medium which feels slightly similar there is a connection so we can just pick up and are good at it.
