I wouldn't say which one is easier as I've never learn piano but I do the guitar, self tought. So I'll just say both are equally possible.
But I think the most important factor of all is you own passion. Do you love guitar or the piano more? You'll need alot of practice everyday. Even if you take lessons you still need to do lots of practice outside classes. I find that to be the only way to be good at it.
So choose one that you think you'll love it the most, where you can plays it everyday without getting bored, one that you can play songs that you know and like.

I've been working with the course for about a week now, and it's incredible. Just the practice aids and the different scales and memory techniques in Book 9 are worth the price of the course, alone! There are two things that make this course stand out. First, all the video and audio files are embedded in the lesson. I have yet to find another piano course that makes it this easy. It's so nice not to have three files going at the same time!
The second thing is that you actually get to play in each lesson! And the songs are not "Mary had a Little Lamb" types! From the Beatles to Bethoven, it's all there. I have several piano courses that I have ordered over the internet. This is the one I use because it makes learning fun! I'm amazed! Once you get the rhythms down, you really can sound like a pro! Great fun! Thanks for making this available at such a reasonable price. Anyone who doesn't grab this up is going to go the long way home! Joy!
Now ANYONE Can Learn Piano or Keyboard?

I've played both and found the guitar much easier than piano to learn without a teacher. A decent guitar and a chord book, you can learn a lot on your own. The piano has a lot more to it. There's a lot to how you hold your hands. Lots of finer points that I didn't get just from a book. BTW, I ended up taking lessons for both.

I think guitar might be easier. I used to mess around playing piano out of a book but my sister was taking lessons at the time so she helped. I did guitar once and I think it is easier to improvise on because you can have a steady beat by strumming whether or not you hold any strings down. Then you can just hold them at random and it just kinda would come to me and I'd make a so-so decent tune I could repeat. With piano I think improvising is harder. It seems more complex. Anything I tried to improvise just seemed so random and without beat.

I know it's not one you listed but it's close... ever thought about electic bass? Easy to learn a lifetime to master. It's my weapon of choice.
