I have a 1997 VW Golf. Both headlights developed the same problem simultaneously. Could it just be a fuse?

<>More than likely, both low-beam elements burned out virtually at the same time. This often happens because when one goes, the resulting power surge burns out the other one. Pull out a bulb and look at the filaments; if one is burnt, you've got to replace it.

It could be, or it could simply be that they blew out around the same time. The high beams run off of different bulbs, so I would first pick up some new lightbulbs for your low beams, and try that.

If it has daylight running lights, it could be the switch or dimmer control switch. A lot of people have failed to turn on the switch thinking they were on. This results in the tail lights not being on. A big danger in rain or fog.

low beam should only be one light on all sport bikes. high beam will turn on the 2nd light. turn on your high beam during the day so cars see you better just for extra safety

The low beam lights could be out. That could be why only your high beams work. My dad's a mechanic, he would know.
