If you do spot any plants in space, let the world know. It would be an earthshaking discovery.

Slooh.com has an online telescope service. They have a telescope located off the coast of Africa and you can view deep space objects on your computer, live, but you have to pay for it. I think it costs about $5 to look at 10 different space objects, $30 for 100 views, and $100 for unlimited views for a year.

You're probably just better off buying your own telescope... that way it's a pay-once deal and you can have it forever. Plus, it's more satisfying to find things and view them yourself from your own backyard! :)

Yes! Check out SkyNet, a series of small robotic telescopes in Chile. I think they allow the public to submit targets on their website. Also, check out the Faulkes Telescopes for something similar. And google the Digitized Sky Survey for images of every part of the sky, in high detail. The 2MASS survey is another good one, and their website is a bit easier to use.

Large telescopes are enormously expensive to rent, let alone turn one into an online service (where only one person could control it at a time). In short, you still have to buy your own telescope, or rent a real big one with government grant money.
