as the name implies, its an approximate number of sperm you have per a certain volume....usually cubic millimeters.
You can not do it on your own since you need a microscope and a hemacytometer...which looks like a glass slide with a microscopic grid on it. Medical Technologists perform sperm counts. they work in a lab.. they will put some of your diluted semen into the hemacytometer and count the number of sperm cells in the grid using the microscope...then they multiply that by a certain factor to come up with your sperm count. Aside from the number, they will also look at morphology (shape) and motility (motion) of your sperm cells to see if they are normal.

well first off yer gonna need a microscope and a grid slide.. and you have to know how to do simple math...
