The candle business is a great business to be in 4.4 billion each year and said to rise another 7.2% in 2007. I have been doing this for a little over 4 years so I would have to say best scents to carry all depends on where you live but in the South best sellers are in order: Creme Brulee, Mulberry, Clean Cotton or Sun Washed Linen, Fruit Slices or Kumquat, Hot Apple Pie or Spiced Apple Pecan, Cool Water (men's type), French Vanilla, Butt Naked, Macintosh Apple, Lick Me All Over, Love Spell VS type, Amber Romance VS type, Sweet Pea BBW type, Gardenia, Lavender, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Eucalyptus, Vanilla, Green Apple, and so many more.
My best seller by far is Creme Brulee on average I sell about 30 to 40 Creme Brulee candles a day. Then Mulberry & Fruit Slices. Also the time a year plays into what sells and what dont like floral scents sell but not real good until Spring & Summer. Baking scents tend to sell best in the Winter & fruit in the Summer. Pumpkin & Carrot sell best in the fall.

Hi Kristina,
Candle business would be a good start!!
I have three favorite scents, and they are:
1) Jasmine
2) Lavender
3) Sandalwood
Of course, there are thousands of scents and aromas that you
could choose, but I think you're wise to start out your new
business with the most popular ones. That way, you know you
are going to have customers AND a positive cash flow.

Some favourites include: Vanilla, Strawberry -any sweet smelling relaxing scent. Avoid strong and powerful scents as these tend to over power the other candle scents. Visit candle shops and I am sure you will find the perfect ones for you!

My favorites are lavendar and berry scented ones but I think most people like vanilla or the ones that smell like food baking like apple pie or whatever. It would be great to have a rose scented candle. I haven't seen many of those around and I love the smell of roses.

Vanilla for sure. In the winter I love apple-cinnamon. A good quality pine is good.
