Who else is disgusted with the idea of calling firefighters and (especially)cops heroes for doing their job? Its not like they knew it was a terrorist attack. How come the paramedics dont get credit? The real heroes are the patriots and brave men and women in the armed forces. Cops suck. I never once supported cops maybe firefighters i could realize how you would want to memorialize the dead one for firefighters even though heroes is a bit much... as for cops i would kill them again myself

Awwwwwwww, someone must have gotten a ticket.

You're special in your own little way. Say it with me...

"I am somebody."

Me thinks someone has been on the wrong end of the law before :)

They all are heroes: police, paramedics, and firefighters. The reason that the paramedics aren't honored separately is because in New York, the paramedics and firefighters are all part of the NYFD, although they are separate departments within the fire department. I doubt that the public knew the difference between a NYFD firefighter and a NYFD paramedic, so they were honored together.

Cops are just as much of a hero as the paramedics and the firefighters. I'm under orders from my ambulance company to "stage" or wait outside in the ambulance during potentially dangerous calls, until the police clear the scene. They go into situations where I would fear to tread. The police have averted several situations where my patient would have kicked my butt if they hadn't been there. I'm grateful to them for dealing with all the abuse the public dishes out, and still remaining compassionate and dedicated.
As for firefighters, anyone who willingly walks into a burning building gets my utmost respect.

Would YOU be willing to rush into a burning building to save a life? How about putting your life on the line to rescue a stranger from a car accident or to jump into raging water to save someone who is drowning? Firefighters AND cops do it.
There are times even professionals are tested to the max. They are ALL heroes. Cops, Firefighters, Paramedics, all played a part in saving my life last year.

Putting your life on the line to save people like firefighters and police is not quite the same as backing up your buddies with the best military equipment the government can buy not that the soldiers aren't brave but how many of you would put your life before that of stranger.
