You don't have to vote. But you should realize that you can't complain if you don't vote. No offense, but I find it highly ironic that you are a wrestling fan...I don't know why but I just do. Please tell me that you are like 12 or 15 or something.

Because too many people complain later, say the governments useless.

Because in some countries people are stopped from voting if they might vote the wrong way - they are not given the choice.

The only way the government can prove over 50% of the population (of voting age and over) want them to govern is if 100 % of the population (of voting age and over) voted.

In first passed the post voting systems they don't need a magority, and I know in the US not evryone has to vote. Funny how there are far more cemetry residents voting over there...

Finally, if you truly feel you shouldn't have to vote, you always have the choice to hand in a blank ballott - no one can check it. Is your refusal purely because you can't be stuffed going to the local school?

Voting is your only power as a citizen to create a better economy and protect your family. Politicians only care about fixing healthcare after their loved-ones have major fatal diseases when they could of years before. Some politicians are testing new programs that will ruin the economy further by decreasing governmental subsidization for insurance companies. Other politicians are trying the old system of raising taxes without security, which will erode the economy faster. If you get people to vote then you're protecting your rights, http://www.voteprimous.com

The beauty is the fact that you do not have to vote. Many people feel that it is necsessary to vote, but the truth is you have the right to vote but also not to vote. If you do not feel strongly (or strong enough) to vote for a canidate, you can voice your opinion by not voting. This is part of our justice system and many people excersize the right to not vote, while others feel it necasary to vote.

In Australia you have to vote because the voter turnout in places like America is so low that they don't get a good demographic of people voting.

People stop saying you don't have to vote We're talking about AUSTRALIA

You have the right not to vote. In my opinion though, if you dont vote, you have no room to complain about our political situation.

good question...It makes no sense especially when government officials can skew the results to their liking.

HBO did a great documentary about this.
