Watching anime on the internet is not illegal. When something is played on public television it is no longer considered illegal to view freely on the internet. The only thing that is illegal is if you are viewing shows that can only be found on DVD. Recently a guy got out of a huge fine and jail time for contributing illegal movies/shows amoung a large knit group of friends. He was able to prove that every move he traded came from his Tivo. Meaning they were publicly broadcasted movies/shows. He was able to get off.
