There should be a couple of tabs on it that you pull and slide out the battery.

I love the first answer and with some of the battery recalls it may be true.
But, turn the Laptop over and you see where the Battery slide in. Usually toward the center or end of the battery you see a little slider type thumb lock. Slide it one way it can go and you battery will slide out; Then it burst into flames. LOL!!!

There should be tabs or something.. Like on my laptop, there is one tab you push which stays: the other tab you have to push and then start to pull the battery out bc the tab doesn't stay. It sounds confusing, but it's not really. It's quite easy.

Shut it down and turn it off.
Flip it over upside down and you should see the outline of the battery.
There should be arrows and/or symbols representing what to push, slide, or pull to get the battery out.

A little latch on the bottom... slide it to the side and hold it. Tug on the battery to slide out the side.
