It can be very difficult to tell. That part about listening to your gut is a good idea. If there's something that just doesn't "feel" right, you're better off to back-off. Some of these guys are just every-day con artists, but some of them are really slick. The most dangerous are the sociopaths. They are generally very charming and fun to be around, but they have no conscience, feel no guilt, have no empathy for their victims. If things don't seem to add up, don't let yourself continue to buy off on more lies. These guys are really good. They can fool even worldly and experienced people. You don't want to go through life as a cynic, but you do have to be cautious.

I thought I was able to but in life I have learned even some of those I thought I have known the best have not been who I thought they were.
