Switching over to another form of birth control can affect your system. Your period may become irregular but it should only be temporary.

Breakthrough bleeding and spotting are common when one is changing from one brand of birth control pill to another. I tried Yaz for 6 months in part of 2006 and had a very rough start with it when it came to adjusting to it then I got adjusted. I decided never to take it again after I had to go off of it at 6 months. And the reason I decided not to go on it ever again is because of the difficult adjustment I had.

When changing brands of birth control pills it is also common to have the period skip at least once.
