In my experience, the desert states - Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado - have always had the best thunderstorms (though they're terribly rare). I grew up in Texas and saw some crazy-awesome ones there as well.

the best thunderstorm i ever saw from in wyoming through the mountains going back to kansas. There was horizontal lightning and it was very cool. I think the flat land gives a better vantage point for storm watchers.

where i live in oklahoma. Ive been in a tornado, and see tornados forming all the time. its just about time for tornado season
