First of all one has to be patient to hear what the other religion says.
Hinduism is based on VEDAS.VEDAM means that which is knowable.(irrespective of faith)
Earth's gravitatioal force is a vedam.

These VEDAS consist truths that can be challenged..and you find satisfactory logical answers in it.

In good old days the Indian Rishis learnt the the technique of introspection.They tried hard did tapas (penance) for long periods and obtained powers to travel beyond the earth to any where with astral bodies.So they actually visualised all the distant things,planets,stars etc and were able to say what they are .How they are etc.

People ,some who do not care to read or understand with open mind, will make ridiculous comments.That is natural.

But if one reads YOGA VASHISTAM ( an epic by Valmiki containing 32000 slokas,you can not but appreciate the wisdom of our Rishis.

So with the powers acquired they were able to see the planets and say the sizes even.They told that The planet GURU(Jupiter )is equal in mass to the combined mass of other planets excluding Sun.This is found to be true.They said the VENUS is the only planet that rotates from right to left.They even described Rahu and Ketu are SHADOW PLANETS and these shadow planets don't have any of their own house in astrology.How is this possible thousands of years ago.Mind is capable to all these when trained properly.
So there no wonder that they said the size of planets.
One can read Maha Bharatam too (udyoga parvam) to know how the conditions change with time.It is so explicitly explained .

There is nothing wrong in reading books pertaining to other's faith.Every one should do it.All roads lead to Rome.Why quarrel.Hindu Vedas say that Every thing is DIVINE.Then why one should feel hatred?

By spiritual power acquired through meditation. The spiritual power is greater than any power in the universe. It invokes extra sensory perception in a human being. It's span is un limited and un ending. As per Hindu mythology, there are 108 such powers existing in human-self. Who ever master these powers, need not travel any where. It is a question containing 100s of question. One can not conclude it before knowing the life cycles of civilizations. Time and space theory is another subject to reach the answer of this quuestion.
Actualy our existance is an engineering of psychoware and somatoware. Touchable part of existance is somatoware like planet and body material, same as hardware in computer and Unthouchable part of existance is psychoware like gravity or emotions and all other forces that we use but can not touch.
Our five sensory organs are input and output devices. Most of the world understand existance on time scale as past, present and future. Becouse of their limited senses. Knowing time scale is only one dimension of existance, this is the reason why people are unable to solve some mystical questions. Social belief system say vedic period was above 4000 or more or less BC, it is not absolute....
