You should go to the place a week or so before the interview and hang out in the parking lot and see what the folks seem to be waring. Then try to dress to a slightly higher standard.

Remember that first impressions will set the tone. I would suggest one thing, wear shoes that are comfortable, but not athletic shoes.

While I can't suggest an exact outfit, it's usually the rule of thumb to dress up a level from what you'll be wearing at work. If the job has you wearing polo shirts and slacks, wear a suit to the interview. If it's blue collar work, a collared shirt, tie, and slacks.

Those are guy examples, but I'm assuming that you get the idea. For a medical internship, Sunday best type clothing seems like the key. And no tennis shoes. Dress shoes are needed.

Whether you'll be sporting a business suit or a professional looking collared shirt/skirt combo, I think that either of those routes are the way to go.

You want to look professional.

How you do your hair depends on how long it is. I'd say anything longer than shoulder should go up, while anything shorter could stay down.

I've been told that you should dress the part of the job you'd like to have :-) I would think you'd be safe if you dressed as if you were going to be working in an upscale office. The collared shirt and dress pants, preppy sweater sound good, but I'd go with better shoes. A loafer type, casual but nice.

Good luck with the interview.

The suggestion above from Middleage sounds like a good idea, but when I was going for my field placement our teacher said maybe it's not such a good idea to watch people who have been there for a while because maybe they have become too comfortable.
Anyway, your suggested clothes sound interesting and good, but I don't think you should wear athletics shoes, maybe try a nice flats or something like that. Also, remember to minimize the makeup and jewelery, if you wear a lot.

Best wishes and good luck.
