How do modes help create solos when they include the exact same notes of the major scale.

modes, or patterns of notes were used long before major and minor scales came into vogue. We still hear modes in the form of ragas ( that little riff played before the opening of most Indian classical music, which contains in one go all the notes the players are going to use for that piece) and in Middle Eastern music. Our use and notation of modes came from ancient Greece ( see how the music comes West?) and were used as guidelines up until the 1500s in Europe, when musical notation started to exert its influence. Our greats and great-greats decided that two modes ( major and minor, we call them) were easier to remember and write for than seven. (Lazy heads)
