I want to make a fansite, but I'm having a hard time deciding which domain I should get, since most are already taken.. for example if I want to make a site for Julia Roberts (not really)
So I was thinking between :
jroberts.org (another website has similar name, except it was .info)
j-roberts.org
juliar.org
julia-r.org
please help me decide :)

stay away from dashes because it can confuse people.
juliar sounds spanish
jroberts.org is best out of those. but it sounds like it is a personal site. if it is a fan site, put fan site at the end.
who cares if another site has it as .info.
the other site probably hasn't updated in so long.

To be honest, people put too much into a name. Unless your domain will become a household name( prolly won't ) then all that matters is how you market it. It could be aljadskfja.net and still get tons of traffic if it's marketed properly because a LOT of users go through banners and clickables.
So don't put too much into the name. Just get the best you can, jroberts.org sounds fine and market it well.

You should really try and find a .com domain. be creative, but if nothing goes i would probably go for the first one jroberts.org

Well if you want to make a fan site for a movie/tv star then i would recommend "www.theirname.tv" or "www.weloveXXX.tv" or .com
