what do you do to get to sleep after watching a very scary movie?

Well, I let my mind be occupied with other things. Make sure that the things you're gonna think about is something that will really need to occupy your mind or something that will require you to think more. Example are plans for a party or weekend, how to solve your problems, or you can even recall your embarassing moments. Those are things that will let your memories about the scary movie vanish.

If that doesn't work for you, read books and try to convince yourself that whatever you watched is not real and will never come to you.

Good luck and hope you have a nice sleep!

Well, if you are like me (my heart rate went up to 300 every time the phone rang and I couldn't be alone in the room - much less sleep alone without the light on - for a month after I've seen The Ring for the first time), then nothing really helps, even if you watch cartoons etc. What helps me is to leave the TV on, turn all the lights on and put something over my eyes, roll on my belly and think of like hot guys/actors, or in extreme cases I start thinking about clothes and what I want to buy etc. Hope this helps!

Anytime I see a movie that hits past my threshold for scary movies (which to be honest is pathetically low), I pop in a disney movie and fall asleep to that. That way when I fall asleep I'm thinking about the Disney movie and not the horror flick.

Beauty and the Beast and Mulan are the two most optimal choices, at least to me...

To recover from a scary movie (specially at night), I'd do all the things I'd hate doing eg. term papers, homework assignments or my job. Not only do I get rid of the scariness, sometimes I actually get really productive (like being able to finish that 30 page term paper).

Try it. Weird it may sound, it works.
