I'm not lonely and my I.Q. is in the upper 1% of the world. When you're this smart and being friendly is important to you, you learn how to make friends and find the right mate... I did.

Yes!
Ignorance is bliss. Knowledge, sorrow. Laugh & the world laughs with you, cry & you cry alone. Still I'd rather be smart & solitary than stupid & surrounded...
But if you're smart enough, you can learn to love yourself & enjoy your own company. Being alone doesn't have to be lonely. Besides, if you are resourceful you can seek out other intelligent folk to keep you company. Maybe you could try joining MENSA and go to their functions.
I was fortunate enough to meet a cute brainiac who is also a talented musician. It's so refreshing to date someone who isn't too intimidated to play Scrabble with me. He even wins occasionally! :)
Don't lose hope. Just get out there. Get involved in activities that interest you & meet like-minded people. Maybe it's the places you choose to go. For instance, you might find more intellectual people in a museum, art gallery or library as opposed to, say, a pool hall, bowling alley or tractor pull. Just a guess. Then again that's not to discriminate against brilliant people with a penchant for billiards, bowling or farm machinery...
:)

If you think you are smarter than everyone around you, no wonder you are lonely.
If you are so smart, then why are you so miserable?
Maybe you're just not that smart, maybe you should respect others for their talents, not just the things you happen to be good at.
Respect everyone, fear no one.

I dunno about being 'smarter' but i know that it's extremely lonely and depressing when you think that people are beneath your level. Sometimes, when i talk to people and find our talk really boring, i just try to look like i'm interested, just to keep them happy. In a way, it's turning me into someone i'm not, a prisoner in my own body, and that's really so sad.

If you are lonely because you feel that your intelligence is greater than others, than maybe you need to stop thinking because of that you are better than others.
In general people treat you the way you want to be treated. When you think it is because of your intelligence then you are looking down at others and they know that, who wants to be around someone who thinks they are better than you.

Just think how much worse it would be to be lonely and less intelligent than those around you? Not even your mind to keep you company...

Yes....sometimes I join in on conversations about Britney Spears just for the pure joy of the arguement. I like to watch stupid people try to debate politics.

All great people are loners and do express themselves to be in a jail (world for them) at some point too. But I doubt if they would be in Y!A.

I say it is better to be alone than in bad company but to you I'd say there is a club called Mensa. You can always apply for membership.
