~So how many greenhouse gasses do you figure you encourged and were complicit in creating to mine the materials needed to build your computer, package it, ship it, merchandise it and then for you to use it? I am certain you use no petroleum products for transportation, heat, medicine or cosmetics. I know you don't watch tv and or use electric lighting, thereby encouraging the burning of fossil fuels to generate electricity and you must have a solar powered computer because you would never contribute to the problem by complaining about it. Think it through a little before you whine. If you don't have a solution, complaning about the problem simply contributes to it. Oh, mea culpa. You were speaking of all those other polluters, not yourself. Never mind.

Because the world is not as simple, or black and white as you want to believe to support your arguement.
Also, the environment is not in as much trouble as you seem to believe.
Lemme give ONE example of why things are not so simple. Let's say that for the sake of no longer "poisoning" our air, we stop burning all fossil fuels tommorrow.
Problem solved right?
Wrong. We all starve to death because we have an economy which relys on combustion.
People are already starving all over the world, take away cars, and trucks, and tractors, and powerplants, and our productivity will decrease to what, a hundred times less than it is now or probably more?
Try to remember, there is no guarantee that tommorrow will come for any of us. So try to be a little bit careful about accusing people of not doing what YOU think is right, it will get you a lot farther with others.

You have the three consumables we need to live, but you forgot another important factor in life: Excretion. Every living organism must cast off waste products or it will die, and of course "no organism can exist in a medium of its own waste".
Our success as a species has made the problem of what to do with our waste quite dire, though as you observe many people still do not recognize it.
If you observe recycling and conservation in your own home, and make efforts to keep the waste to a minimum, you surely know how difficult this can be. After only a month of saving recyclable materials-- and I'm just one person with a number of pets-- I had a small mountain of stuff that needed to be hauled away. I could only imagine what it would be like if I was a family of four, ya know?

We're doing this because we don't know how to stop. These days, life is all about money, and the only way that the powers that be make money is by having the status quo continue. We, as a people, make money by working for the status quo. It's insanity, and it will result in our ruin, but what can we, as individuals, do? It's ******* scary is what it is.

When you're cold, you build a fire. Go from there! Stop listening to Gore's lies. Remember him? He's the one who invented the internet.
To be totally honest, it's the free enterprise system. It's a good thing but we didn't know about these things when we started them. I can remember when it was common to dump oil in the sewer or on the ground until we found out how bad it was and why. We are doing things and we should keep learning about it and stopping what we can. Heavy fines for violations should be in order.

Why do people smoke when they know it's poisonous? Why do they do drugs? Why do they overeat? Why do they commit suicide? People seem to like to destroy themselves. They've been doing it since the dawn of time in one way or another.
We need more than air, water & food to survive. We need love. If you don't love yourself then you won't even have the sense to get the other necessities. Love yourself, love others & love the planet. That is the key to survival & happiness.

Yes it is and history has shown that we will all pay collectively although not necessarily equally for our own insanity and stupidity.
This answer could be applied to many questions. The one which comes to mind is : Why do bad things happen to good people?

it's not a good reason but it is the reason: we're spoiled- nobody's willing to give up "the good life" or "freedoms" of doing whatever/ whenever regardless of ultimate price to current or future generations that plus the "fact" that it doesn't matter if we do these things because when jesus returns he'll wiggle his nose and presto! we'll have perfect air, water and food again!
