I had appendicitis 2 weeks ago and one of the incisions is sore and red, and a long string is hanging out of it. I tried giving it a yank to see if it was loose but it isn't. I'm not sure what to do about it but it's giving me the heebie-jeebies.

It sounds like it's a stitch hanging out, and since your incision is sore and red it could be infected. Is there any puss coming out of it? You should see your doctor and make sure to get things taken care of so you don't end up with a more serious problem!

It's a stitch and it sounds like your incision is infected. You need to treat it with antibiotics. Whoever did the surgery has to see you on follow up appointments at no cost. That's part of having surgery.
