To my interaction with some of the watch manufacturers, they quoted since the brand name of a watch manufacturer is placed below 12, showing time at 10:10 by the needles of the watch highlight the brand name very appropriately. And this practice is prevalent since ages now.

because only that time shows smiley face
watch it carefully u will see it
every watch will bring happy time in everyones life.
so any manufacturer who want to sell his product has to keep same time in his watch.
very few people know this logic.

This gives the better appearance for the clock. You can place it in different angle and try to see what you think about it.
