I'm a 17yr old Senior in HS. I work at a hospital as a ER Registration/Admissions Clerk. When I got the job, I worked weekends only(everyother weekend) and worked 12 hr shifts from 11am - 11pm. I liked it.After a short period of time, I began working EVERY weekend day and graveyard shifts and working during the week also. I have to come str8 from school to the hospital and work. I make pretty good and hour but I would rather work different hours. I gotta job offer @ the Police Dept.(i worked there 3yrs and love it but its only summer job) again and I work 5 days a week 8-4:30 and have every weekend off! The pay is basically the same. My parents have been wanting me 2 quit since I dont have to work but I'm too busy trying to please everybody. I can't handle the hours and cut into my personal life. All my friends say gurl, U working like you got a husband and kids to take care of! Should I quit and take a break and work @ da Police Dept. or stick wit it until I go 2 college?

I say you should relax and take the job with the Police Dept. You're young and you should enjoy it. There are things you can do at 17 that you can never do again. There's nothing more pathetic that some 40 year old trying to relive their teen years because they feel they missed out on something.

You've got your whole life ahead of you to work at jobs you hate, don't do it at 17. BTW, I say lifes to short to work a job you hate, no matter how old you are.

You are young and you definitely need the weekends to have fun. You need to quit the hospital job and move on. You have many more years ahead of you to do whatever you want workwise. At your age I didn't even have a job so you are lucky to have a head start and be responsible.

you got some good work ethic, thats hard to find nowadays but you dont want to burn yourself out working so much when u already got alot on your plate. i say stick it out with the hospital because u only got lie 6 more months of that before u gotta start college right? keep working at the hosptal, save your money so u dont have to work when u get to college.
good luck

You do not have to quit your job....go on with it and try to enjoy your life for now ...you are lucky to have such experience at an early stage of your life; it could help you in your future as much as form you to maturity which is where we will be in our stay here in this world called Planet "Earth".

see what makes you happy. if quitting will make you happy, then quit. what you earn is not an important factor if you don't need to work for a living.
