I'm lost right now! Here's the deal, I really enjoy rock and rap/hip hop music; yet, I want to be listening to "good music". "Good music" meaning having great lyrics and great instrumental sounds. I love rap for the reason of the catchy rhythm and I love rock because it has meaningful lyrics. But, I also find rap lyrics to be "terrible" and rock can be a little too annoying with the screaming (if there is any). For example, I like the background sounds of "Make It Rain" by Fat Joe and "What You Know" by T.I., but the lyrics aren't great. Rock doesn't have THAT "catchiness". Seems like this music generation is falling apart. So, where should I turn to, rock or rap?

By the way, I don't like the "oldies".

You should listen to some Good Charlotte, They're kind of Pop-rock, so they've got good rock lyrics, but its also got a catchy beat like hip hop.

Why not give classic jazz vocalists a try, for a change of pace. Two women, two men for starters:

Billie Holiday

Ella Fitzgerald

Louis Armstrong

Nat King Cole

Try them for a change of pace.

first off, dont listen to Good Charlotte, their lyrics have no meaning, they suck.

what has good lyrics and a nice beat? The Beatles. try it, you'll like it.
also Be Your Own PET and Regina Spektor (the old stuff, like Musicbox and BYOS)
