Which did you enjoy more? Same novel, two different approaches....

Dangerous Liaisons stuck closer to the play. The characters of Valmont and Madame de Merteille are much more vicious in this film, and the character of Suzanne dies, like in the play.

I like the acting in Valmont better, though. And the very best was seeing Alan Rickman play the role on Broadway way back in the late 80's--he was awesome!

Dangerous Liaisons. The dresses, the wigs, the intrigues! This is one of my favorite films.

Have to go with Dangerous Liaisons...but then again, it's one of my favorite movies.

Pros: Performances by Malkovich and Close
Con: Whoa! Keanu! ("One of these things is not like the other...")
