Consider your own mother or grandmother.
The key factor about an unsung hero or heroine...no one publicly knows they are heroes.
Once there is a mythology about them--such as the schindler story which is now widely known, they are no longer "unsung."
So it is easier to look closer to home to find someone in your own family--as I said, perhaps your own mother or your own grandmother who performed feats of courage or endurance, or goodness, or kindness--any of a hundred possible features--all unappreciated.
It is almost like that old saying, "If a tree falls in the forest, and there's nobody there to hear it, does it make sound?"
Thus it would be with your unsung heroine:
If she performs an act of courage or goodness or strength or kindness and no one knows it, is she still a hero?
Yes. She is.
But perhaps if someone brags about her, she won't be unsung any more.
