I have been asked to instruct on ways to deal with awkward situations and confrontations at a Scout youth camp. I would like to know what you think are the best ways. Many thanx!

Hold your line, but respect that your opponent is doing the same. Essentially demonstrate mutual respect, and project power. If you try to force someone to do something they will retaliate, so in confrontational situations you need to be worried about your behavior and what you are saying and doing. You need to make sure it is confident, reasoned, but isn't making demands or disrespecting anyone else. If it is you need to restate your position in a manner that the other person both doesn't find threatening, and doesn't compromise their perception of your self-respect.

By not causing confrontation yourself? My question was a question and it is not my fault that Yahoo Answers decided to add a question mark at the end of it. I'm getting very tired of the sarcasm that seems to float around on this website.

Have a good day!

Can you elaborate on your question. Is it confrontation between the boys and yourself? Or another scout leader?

If its between the boys remember you are the adult. Time outs for all involved are always a problem solver, letting the boys cool off.
